White Rose

White Rose 29The rose is one flower that has a rich history, compared to any other flower. For centuries, the rose has been used to symbolize the deep feelings of love and pure emotions. It conveys more than could be spoken through words. It has been a symbol of confidentiality, that gave rise to the Latin phrase sub rosa. This simply means something spoken in secret. The meanings of the white rose in myths and legends are aplenty. According to Greek mythology, all roses were originally white in color. It then magically developed in other colors, tones, and hues. When Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Beauty, was pricked by its thorn, her blooded dripped on the white petals, turning them red. When a beautiful maid kissed it lovingly, it blushed, and turned pink. Hence, these myths and legends point towards the loss of innocence. As a result, this white variety stands for innocence and purity. This flower also represents truth, silence, secrecy, reverence, humility, charm, and youthfulness. A single white rose stands for simplicity, while one in full bloom says, “I love you”, or “You are heavenly”.¬† The White Rose..one of the oldest varieties of this flower has long inspired poets, artists and couples in love with its simple, elegant beauty. We wanted to create one using a white and black layered acrylic so once the top layer was engraved the black underneath came through which allowed the definition in the petals to pop right off the surface. London Sign

Camera 360London was founded by the Romans about 50 AD. Its name is derived from the Celtic word Londinios, which means the place of the bold one. London, the capital city of England and the UK, has a history dating back over 2,000 years. During this time, it has grown to become one of the most significant financial and cultural capitals of the world. It has experienced plague, devastating fire, civil war, aerial bombardment and terrorist attacks. The City of London is its historic core and today is its primary financial district, though it now represents a tiny part of the wider metropolis of Greater London. This script filigree style etching was done on a piece of black cast acrylic which really allows all the tiny details in the lines work to really show through off the surface. This etching was really enjoyable to do as the lines and swirls in the font really capture you and draw you in. See more pics here

The Joker

The JokerThe Joker is a fictional character, a comic book supervillian appearing in publications by DC Comics. Throughout his comic book appearances, the Joker is portrayed as a highly intelligent and master criminal. Originally introduced as a psychopath with a warped, sadistic sense of humor, the character has became a goofy prankster, before returning to his darker roots. As Batman’s nemesis, Joker has been a part of many of the defining stories of that character and there has been several different tales but the most common is he fell into a tank of chemical waste which bleaches his skin white and turns his hair green and his lips bright red. As archenemy of the superhero Batman, the Joker had to be included into the comic book collection but this time we decided to do the etching on black cast acrylic which shows every little detail brilliantly. The highlight for me doing the Joker was hes teeth and eyes which every gives him character. See more pics here.

Superman Man Of Steel

A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind. So to celebrate the release of the new movie we decided to add a Superman etching to the Batman and many other comic characters to come here at XtremeEtching to our collection and again we decided to etch on black acrylic because it really gives the image an eye catching appeal and also makes the comic characters even more dark and mysterious. Batman has been the most featured superhero of our time from blockbuster movies, TV shows, Video games, Cartoons and in millions of comics worldwide so we had to add this poster boy comic legend to our collection. Not the typical Batman image you are likely to see as we wanted to focus mainly on Batman’s mask which really sets him apart from all superheros as its shaped like a bat but we wanted to create a depth within the details of the material so it didn’t look like a flat piece of material. The highlight for me while creating the etching was the eyes because they look so deep set within hes mask that gives him a menacing and fearsome appearance and the way hes cloak drapes down around hes neck, as we was able to create the folds in the material. New Wave Tattoo

We have always been a admirer of the art form of tattooing so it was a great pleasure for us to do an etching for one of the most famous tattooist in the industry Lal Hardy, he is one of the most revered and respected names in the London tattooing scene and worldwide so we really put in every effort to come up with an unique design that matched hes personality. We came up with a skull and crossbones design which sits on a scroll parchment that includes all the aspects that we thought the client would appreciate and would fit well in hes shop “New Wave Tattoo”. Added the shops name was a must and also the scroll filigree frame which really give the design an eye catching element but our highlight was the scroll parchment lifting up at all the edges and turning in on itself as this gives the etching a 3D effect, allowing the piece not to look flat on the acrylic. For the first time we decided to try our hand at etching a piece of black acrylic that you can’t see through which made for an interesting project to take on but a challenge worth putting in the effort as the final effect was really something different then we have ever done to date. We were so taken aback of how well the etching showed up the the black glossy surface, every petal took on a remarkable shape of it’s own and the blending of the shading really showed off the rose beautifully. Etching on black acrylic took much more shading detail then any other surface we have etched before, we had to really work the edges of the outline to create the shape of the flower so the the petals could take form, so not allowing the image to look flat we had to shade in deeply different areas of the petals so they looked as though they are folding out at you which I think we have achieved. The Rose Etching is by far our favorite piece and using the black acrylic has made us want to use it in more projects to come. More pic’s here

John Lennon

Pop star, composer, and songwriter John Lennon was born October 9, 1940, in Liverpool, England.
Lennon met McCartney in 1957 and invited Paul to join his music group.
They eventually formed the most successful songwriting partnership in musical history.
Lennon left The Beatles in 1969 and later released albums with his wife Yoko Ono, and others.
In 1980 he was killed by a crazed fan but he has remained as popular as ever which is why i wanted to add the legend to our collection of portrait etchings. We choose this image of John Lennon as it is the iconic image of him that everyone remembers and recognizes instantly and the different elements like hes glasses made the etching that more interesting to achieve. We was able to create the effect of the glass rebounding the light that catches the edge of the glass and also the shadows that appear under where the glasses are resting upon John’s face. Bob Marley

Bob MarleyBob Marley helped introduce reggae music to the world and remains one of its most beloved artists to this day.
During his lifetime, Marley served as a world ambassador for reggae music. He sold more than 20 million records, making him the first international superstar to emerge from the so-called Third World. In 1994, Marley was inducted into the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame.
Marley’s music still remains popular, more than 25 years after his passing so i had to add the legend to our collection of etchings and I’m so glad we did. The highlight for me has got to be Bobs dreadlocks as i have never etched them before and also hes eyes as they came out with a lot of expression.See more pics here

Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix is widely recognized as one of the most creative and influential musicians of the 20th century, Jimi Hendrix pioneered the explosive possibilities of the electric guitar. Hendrix’s innovative style of combining fuzz, feedback and controlled distortion created a new musical form. Because he was unable to read or write music, it is nothing short of remarkable that Jimi Hendrix’s meteoric rise in the music took place in just four short years. His musical language continues to influence a host of modern musicians to this day which is one of the inspirations behind this etching.

This photo of Jimi had so much detail in hes clothing that it was a really technical piece to take on but every hour spent on creating this etching was worth it, the buttons and fur around the edge of the coat was my highlight as these aspects allowed the portrait to have a 3D appearance which really transpired well in this etching.
